Centru Feto Maubisse, East Timor – International Working Party
September 1 2012
In July/August of 2012, seven members of the Rotary Club of Bendigo South and their friends travelled to the remote village of Maubisse, East Timor to undertake an International Working Party project at the Centru Feto Maubisse (Maubisse Women’s Centre).
This project involved the construction of an outdoor cooking area (dapur). The framework for this structure was formerly a bike shelter at a demolished secondary college in Bendigo. Projects also undertaken at the Maubisse Women’s Centre include the painting of a sign outside of the centre, gardening, replacing and repainting of rotted eaves, basic plumbing, as well as the teaching of English language, sewing and cooking to the local women.

- Before we left, the Bendigo Advertiser ran a story on our trip.
All members of the working team had a great time in Maubisse, and would love to return again one day to continue the great work of Bendigo Rotary clubs in Maubisse.
The Rotary Club of Bendigo South was fortunate enough to receive extensive local media attention surrounding the working party project to East Timor.
