Hands on Development Tour- Nepal

During the July school holidays, intrepid Bendigo South Rotarian, Matthew Scott journeyed to Nepal to partake in a Hands on Development tour.

Hands on Development tours are undertaken by Rotary Club of Melbourne Rotarian, Stephanie Woollard. Stephanie is a past Rotary peace scholar, having studied overseas in Conflict and Peace Studies. From this, Stephanie also established the Seven Women centre in Nepal, where disadvantaged women can learn craft and tailoring skills, becoming empowered and earning money for a more fulfilling life.

As well as seeing the sights of Nepal and visiting institutions such as the Fred Hollows eye hospital, both being Rotarians, Stephanie and Matthew also discovered several Rotary connections in the country (including a plaque in the Royal Palace museum, Kathmandu).

Going overseas like this truly demonstrates the global impact of Rotary International.
