Bendigo Olive Fiesta
The Bendigo Olive Fiesta is an annual event organised by the Rotary Club of Bendigo South and the Rotary Club of Bendigo-Strathdale with the help of the Central Victorian Olive Growers Association that attracts thousands of people from Regional Victoria, Melbourne and interstate. The event aims to raise funds for local charities and Rotary projects, promote central Victoria as an olive growing region and showcase Bendigo as an attractive tourist destination.
‘The Fiesta celebrates the role of the Bendigo Goldfields as the central focus of Victoria’s emerging olive industry. Our warm, dry summers and cool winters mimic the famous Mediterranean climate and provide the basis for ideal growing conditions’, said Mrs Wendy Learmount, Chairman of the organising committee.
The Fiesta will be on Sunday 18th March, 2012 and is open to the general public. Being your kids along for a fun-filled day of musical entertainment, bouncing castles and face-painting.
Sample olives, olive oil and other olive products, taste local wines and enjoy a variety of Mediterranean foods. Join one of our workshops and find out how to grow, cook and pickle your own olives. Take a tour of the Bendigo Pottery olive press and test your skill at the bocce competition.
